Unfortunately, many people attend A & E with minor problems or injuries and can wait up to 4 hours to be seen. Attending a local Minor Injuries Unit can reduce the waiting time and provide the same service locally.
As from the 1 April 2016 (this service is a pilot which is expected to run for 24 months)
Our surgery will provide a Minor Injuries Service for injuries including:
- sprains and strains
- cuts and grazes
- suspected minor fractures
- minor burns and scalds
- minor eye injuries
- minor head injuries
Please note that we do not have x ray facilities on site and suspected fractures will be referred to Yate or Southmead.
The nurses in this surgery will be trained in treating a range of minor injuries. The service will be available during normal GP surgery opening times on a walk-in basis.
If you suffer a minor injury outside normal GP opening hours ring NHS 111 for advice.
Calls to 111 are free from any landline or mobile.
